Spiritual Emphasis 2009
It was that time of year again....the time when the Junior High and High School from CCS venture out to Lopez Canyon Conference Center for 3 days of fun in the sun and Spiritual Growth!
The theme was "Crazy Love"...based on the book by Francis Chan. Mr. Tullis (the principal) had a great passion for these kids to understand the love God has for them!
This time away was more than just games, skits and good food (although those were fun)...it was ultimately about developing and growing their relationship with the Lord and with each other.
They call him Flipper!!...Flipper!!

Andrew and Bubba hang out by the pool..

Mom worked in the kitchen feeding all those hungry kiddos...

These two have been at CCS since kindergarten...the last of their class..

Labor Day
We usually avoid the crowded popular beaches on the major holidays around here.. Why fight the crowds when you can wait a week and enjoy them tourist free right??...well that is unless Bubba's friend invites him to hang out at the beach with him. I happily oblige, thinking..why not!My tourist frustration is only enhanced as we drive the road out to the beach and see the signs (and cars) for Pops By the Sea (Symphony concert at Avila Resort)... Great... more people and NO Parking whatsoever!!...
that was until Bubba got on the phone with his friend to see where they were at... I hear..."oh ok..we'll just park there"

Bubs guides and directs me to a house...just a block and a half from the beach in which a lovely parking spot has been roped off for us! Ahh....Peace!!
Of course, having not ventured to Avila on a holiday...seeing all the people at the beach was quite a surprise! Umbrellas everywhere! A wedding going on over here... kids over there... wow! ( I hear the beaches are pretty crowded where we are going in Mexico...so maybe this was a good warm up!) I find my spot...plopped my chair down and enjoy the sunshine while watching the boys boogie board....and over course...do a little people watching! (very interesting folks you find at a crowded beach!)
Avila is such a charming town, and I must admit...I felt quite "touristy" as we walked around afterwards. It was quite fun and got me even more geared up for our upcoming vacation!!

Week of Welcome

The first week of school has been traditionally known as the Week Of Welcome. It usually consists of "themed" dress days, Pep Rallys, and messy fun activities.
On Wednesday, each class was to dress in their "theme".
The choice of 8th graders.....get this....Hippies!!
After an unsuccessful hunt at a few thrift stores after school on Tuesday,
we came home...cut off some shorts....raided his sisters closet and hat rack...
and WaLa!
Instant Hippie! Just add Tie dye!!

The Golden Mane!
It has been rumored, and actually proven by pictures
that at one point, hubby had what was once called
"The Golden Mane of Hair"
It is a well known joke around the house in which
we kindly remind him of his
once love of the art of "combing his hair"
The other night, Brandon came bounding out of his room and announced...
"Who am I?? Who am I??"
And this is what we saw....he had his newly trimmed and cleaned hair
combed in pure "Golden Mane" fashion!
Once I got up off the floor from laughing, I just so happened to have a picture
of our beloved (who was working hard at work during all of this)
close by...so I grabbed the camera and snapped a
few pictures to capture the moment!!
The legacy of The Golden Mane lives on!!
