We've adopted....

Well....sorta!
For a few weeks now, every night about 8:00 we started having a little "visitor" on our front porch. Of course when we started putting food out for her, the visits became more frequent and very consistent! We think we are her "second home",(or vacation resort as we call it!) as she is VERY friendly and definitely NOT the wild cat type! But we'll take what we can get! In order to compliment our other fury friend, we named her Buttercup. Peanut Buttercup! What a treat! (so far they get along terrific!) She's gotten so comfortable here, that the other night she just waltzed into the house and made herself at home!

Miss Buttercup...isn't she cute?

Definitely the most lovable cat around!

Peanut not quite sure about her yet.....

Living Proof Live, San Diego 2008

I had the incredible opportunity to attend a Living Proof Live Conference this weekend in San Diego. This is an event that is put on by Lifeway Christian Book Stores out of Tennessee, featuring Bible Study teacher Beth Moore. If you have never heard of Beth Moore, read one of her books, or participated in one of her bible studies, let me just say.... you are missing out! Granted, some people don't particularly like her because...well let's just say she's quite animated, and gets down to the nitty gritty of living out the bible! But she is by far the most humble and annointed woman that I have ever seen. (with a great added sense of humor!) God has given her such a gift of teaching HIS word so that we may live out our lives in Glory to HIM!

This Friday and Saturday conference was packed with awesome worship, Bible teaching from Psalm 139 that really hit home on my part. I didn't take too many pictures, but I did find an awesome promo video about the conference. Check it out! and give me a holler if you want to go next year!

Family Skate Day

Today Bubba's school hosted a Family Skate Day at the local skating rink. For a buck, we got skate rentals and a whole lot of fun!

I forgot that it had been over 8 years since we had been skating! Which meant that Bubba was barely 4 the last time he went skating!!

In true Bubba style, he gave it his 100% and within a half hour he was off and skating away!

Having your best buddy there always helps for a little encouragement!

Skating is definitely a work out! One must stop and refuel!

Yes... I skated the entire time! A little different than when I was 15!! I am paying for it dearly!! ( didn't even know I had that many muscles!) Not to mention the HUGE blister I got on my ankle!

Opening Day!

Only appropriate to start singin......

"Take me out to the ball game
Take me out with the crowd
Buy me some peanuts and Cracker Jack
I don't care if I ever get back
Let me root, root, root for the home team
If they don't win it's a shame
For it's one, two, three strikes you're out
At the old ball game !!"

(ps...we WON 5-2!)

1/2 the Family...ALL sorts of Fun Night

Several years ago my best buddy Karen made me the most amazing blanket. Its one of those ones that's tied and made of fleece material.

It is out of this world! It's the warmest thing ever! It's been through baseball games, soccer games, drive in movies.... you name it! It's a world known traveler.

Only problem is.....it is sooooo warm and toasty that EVERYONE wants to use Mom's blankie! Even when they are sick! Craziness!

Now skip forward to this weeks 1/2 family Friday Night. (Hubby and Nessa were both working..hence the 1/2 family!)
Bubba and I decided it was time to take on a project. He had been asking to make one the "famous" blankets for himself. ( I was happy to oblige if it meant more time with MY blankie!)

So we headed off to Wal Mart Friday night and picked out the best fleece possible. Since he plans to redo his room this summer, he planned ahead and went with something that would match....keeping in mind not getting anything too light or else it would end up dirty....like his other blankies!

We came home and set out on a mission. With rulers and scissors in hand we were off and running. ( not with the scissors IN our hands of course!)

Measure...cut...measure...cut...

We got the hang of it, and before you knew it, we were off and tying. We had our system going. Bubba would tie the first knot and then I would come behind him and finish up the second knot making sure everything was coming out ok!

At last we had Bubba's Blankie! Hopefully, one day Hubby and Nessa will want to make their own blankies too! Then we can ALL have our own! ( and I will no longer have to share!)

Math Olympian

Every year our local district of Christian Schools puts on a Math Olympics for students to show their talent in Arithmetics. Each grade is divided into 2 categories: Reasoning (you know...the word problems) and Computation (2 +2 =5!) They compete against each other by taking a series of Math tests, judges then grade them and Wala! you get 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners in each group.

Bubba has been honored for several years to be able to go and represent his school with pride. My future architect/engineer has a way with numbers and it truly shows up at this event. This year was no different. He represented Coastal Christian school with great pride and did an outstanding job! Way to go Bubba!

Need a good laugh??

They say laughter is the best medicine.

Well...I have to agree! If you are feeling a bit blah or just ho hum... Check out Christian Comedian Tim Hawkins newest DVD "Full Range of Motion".

This is a hilarious hour and a half of good, clean, family comdedian entertainment that EVERYONE can watch!

I don't know if it's available in the local video stores to rent, but you can certainly purchase it online and know that you'll get lots of use out of it!

Check out Tim's website http://www.timhawkins.net/ to see clips of his work!

Here's to laughter!

(Thanks Franklin family for getting us hooked!!!)
