Disneyland 2009

Is there an age limit to celebrate at Disneyland?? I don't think so! And since Disneyland is making a big deal of inviting everyone to their place for the celebration... we thought we would take them up on their offer!
With season passes in hand, we headed to Disneyland in anticipation of a good time celebrating my birthday! Our friends, the Borgstrom's thought they would indulge in the celebrations as well since their birthdays were all around the same time as mine.
After wading through some LA traffic (again...VERY thankful for the beautiful place that we live!!) we made it to our destinations!
The trip couldn't have been more perfect... from the hotel...to the weather on the days we were there...even to the light crowds at Disneyland. It was a GREAT way to celebrate a 29th birthday! (um..ya...29 forever!)

Goofy is ready!

Mom and Bubba wait for the tram to the Happiest Place on Earth!

Waiting for the Big Splash Mountain!

Can you say California Screamin'??? OH YA!!

While all the boys rode Spalsh Mountain..for the second time, Dawn and I shopped...and took pictures with Brer Fox and Brer Bear.... ( I only had to push a few kids down to get the picture!)

How well do you know Mom??

My friend Stacey interviewed her darling little boy to see how well he knew mom. Well... I thought it would be interesting (and a tad bit funny) to see how well my 13 yr old does!

So here it goes:
1. What is something mom always says to you? "Wash your hands" (neat freak I am not..but I do require clean hands!! lol)
2. What makes mom happy? Bit O' Honey (my sweet little indulgence!..apparently it makes me quite happy!)
3. What makes mom sad? Me disobeying (Bingo...so he WAS listening!)
4. How does your mom make you laugh? Trying to be cool ( I do believe he was referring to my "dancing" to his music...I'm a goof...what can I say?)
5. What did your mom like to do when she was a child? Dress up her cat Fluffy (Guilty as charged!)
6. How old is your mom? 37 (ugh!)
7. How tall is your mom? 5 foot 4 inches (wow...right on!...5'5 on a good day!)
8. What is her favorite thing to watch on TV? Design to Sell (Not that I'm ready to sell..but I do like my HGTV shows!)
9. What does your mom do when you’re not around? Hang out with the girls ( YA! GNO!!! He learns early! woo hoo!!)
10. If your mom becomes famous, what will it be for? Singing (awww...)
11. What is your mom really good at? Cropping (They do LOVE their scrapbooks...so glad they care!!)
12. What is your mom not very good at? Football (What?? I can spike it perfectly!)
13. What does your mom do for her job? Bookkeeping (and then some!)
14. What is your mom’s favorite food? Beef Stroganoff (I think he was clueless on this one, so he picked his favorite!)
15. What makes you proud of your mom? She Loves me (ok...tears!..how sweet!)
16. If your mom were a cartoon character, who would she be? Minnie Mouse (duh!...I already have the ears!)
17. What do you and your mom do together? Go to Walmart (ok...trying to decide if I should take this as..Mom takes me to Walmart shopping to spend my hard earned cash....or...We go to Walmart and just hang out together! lol...)
18. How are you and your mom the same? We have the same eyes (Baby Blues!!, only he has better eye lashes than I do!)
19. How are you and your mom different? Uh...she's female...I'm not! (He's 13 what can I say?)
20. What does your mom like most about your dad? His Golden Mane (or lack there of now...but it's a running family joke..)
21. Where is your mom’s favorite place to go? Disneyland! ( fresh trip in his mind....Hawaii works too!)

Surpise!

Last Friday, Nessa went to an Anatomy lab and when she arrived back to get her car she encountered a surprise! While parked at a friends house (because they carpooled to school) she discovered that someone had hit the back of her car. Apparently a lady took her eyes off the road and ran into Vanessa's car...effectionately called "Special Ed". This car has been in the family since he was brand new...Great Grandma Sible....then Aunt Connie and then Miss Nessa! It's had it's fair share of "boo-boo's" but has definitely been a well running machine that has gotten Nessa to and fro work, school and social activities!
Thankfully, no one was hurt! (except Ed of course!) So now we wait....for insurance adjusters to determine the fate of Mr. Ed....
To Be continued.......

A Thankful Heart!

For those who don't know, I will fill you in on the last few weeks around here.

Almost a month ago I had a hysterectomy along with some reconstructive surgery of inner "parts". This came after a long, drawn out battle for me and definitely was an answered prayer!

God planned everything so perfectly and to HIM I am so thankful for:

* my adoring family and friends who stood in the gap and prayed for me, came to visit me or sent me cards/emails of get well wishes....

* the perfect, competent doctor and staff

* an outstanding hospital

* an incredibly loving church family who not only prayed for me but also provided meals to for my family to which I am still just amazed at the love!

* An awesome job and co-workers who allowed me to take the time off and supported my every decision!

It's been almost 4 weeks now, and although I've had a few small set backs, I have learned to take life a little slower. I still tire easy and have gotten used to asking for help. Not being able to lift, push or pull anything has made me rely on hubby and the kids a ton. They have so graciously stepped in to help out!
I am truly blessed to have such a wonderful husband, awesome kids and the most outstanding group of family and friends!! Thank you!

Bye Bye Basketball

After some pretty close games.....and some NOT so close games, we bid the 2009 Coastal Christian School Jr. High Boys Basketball season goodbye. (almost) We were blessed to have Coach Sean with us again, and a great group of boys that no matter what, they gave it their all! The boys qualified for league playoffs, and will play one last time next Saturday.
Way to Go Conqueror Boys!!

Hello Babe Ruth Baseball!

My darling teenager has hit the "big leagues" . Time to step up to the plate and play some ball!! We got the call officially that he made the team! Very exciting..especially since he's got the same coach as last year...and get this..team name is Giants! HA!!! 3rd year in a row! Now it's time to put those shiny new metal cleats into action!!
Go Brandon!

Time to warm up those voices and sing...

Take me out to the ballgame....(bring a blanket around here!)
Take me out to the crowd...(ugh...not crowds!)
Buy me some peanuts and crackerjacks....(is that all you have??)
I don't care if I ever get back...(depend on how long the game!)
So let's root, root root for the home team...
(that would be the Giants again this year...sorry Karen!)
If they don't win it's a shame....
For it's one...
two...
Three strikes you're out...
At the ol' Ball game!!
